What is The Lumen Foundation?

The Lumen Foundation for Enrichment & Advancement shines light into overlooked spaces of education, leadership, family, creativity, and well‑being. We illuminate pathways for lifelong learning by offering inclusive education, mentorship, and wraparound resources that help people grow in skill, purpose, and confidence across a lifetime. Through pillars like Lumen Pathways, Networks, Circles, Labs, and Ladders, we design training and experiences that bridge education, workforce, wellness, and community so learners can define success on their own terms.

What is your mission? Why are you passionate about this work?

Our mission is to illuminate pathways for individuals and communities through inclusive education, mentorship, and support—so potential, purpose, and possibility can finally align. We believe learning is lifelong, and that real transformation happens when people are seen, supported, and given tools that match the realities of their lives.

I’m passionate about this work because I’ve watched too many brilliant people—especially Black and Brown communities, system‑impacted youth, and people with disabilities—dim their own light to survive systems that weren’t built for them. Lumen lets me help people reclaim that light, build practical skills and credentials, and step into careers and callings that carry both meaning and economic power.

What’s your favorite thing about being part of the Sesh community?

My favorite thing about Sesh is that it feels like a living version of Lumen’s values—illumination, connection, inclusion, and purpose—inside a coworking space. It’s a community where women and gender‑expansive founders can show up as their whole selves, build serious work, and still be held with warmth, creativity, and care.​

I’m currently a private office member, which gives me a consistent home for deep focus days—writing curriculum, building partnerships, and dreaming up new pathways—while still honoring the flexibility my life, family, and community work require.
