I’m Jemma, City Manager at NoScrubs Laundry in Houston. I oversee our contractor workforce, laundromat partnerships, and day-to-day operations. I identify as queer and nonbinary, and I’m proud to say that openly.

What is No Scrubs?

NoScrubs is a citywide laundry logistics marketplace based in Houston. For customers, it’s the simplest version of laundry day imaginable — you put your clothes out, we grab them, and within 4–8 hours (same day, always) they come back washed, dried, folded, and delivered in a free NoScrubs bag. No sorting, no itemized lists, no golf pencils. Just done. On the other side of the marketplace, we give independent contractors — our ‘scrubbers’ — a flexible way to earn income doing pickup, drop-off, and processing at neighborhood laundromats. I use the service at my own house, which honestly says everything.

How Have You Woven in LGBTQ+ Inclusion Into Your Business Practices?

As a queer, nonbinary person, I think a lot about who gets access to opportunity — and that has shaped how we’ve built NoScrubs. Any contractor who meets our requirements can sign up and start earning the next day. No gatekeeping, no lengthy hiring process. We also pay a strong rate for wash and fold compared to other apps, because we believe the people doing the work should benefit significantly. And our platform connects customers to neighborhood laundromats — places that serve everyone. Inclusion, to me, isn’t a policy. It’s just how we built the app.

What’s Your Favorite Thing About Being Part of the Sesh Collective?

I’ve had an office membership at Sesh for over a year and a half, and it’s genuinely made coming to work something I look forward to. The 24/7 access and beautiful facilities make a real difference on long days. We’ve also used the conference rooms for NoScrubs onboarding and training sessions — being able to rent by the hour is incredibly practical for a growing operation. The staff is warm and accommodating, which sets the whole tone.
