Best Spots to Eat, Sip, and Unwind in Midtown Houston

One of the best parts about coworking at Sesh, besides the community and fabulous decor, is the neighborhood we get to call home. Whether you need a cute coffee shop for a midday pick-me-up or a happy hour to toast the end of a productive day, Midtown Houston has plenty to offer just minutes from our space.

Here are five local gems near Sesh Coworking to check out next time you’re here:

1. Tiny Champions

If you love pizza, wine and cocktails, and a backyard vibe, Tiny Champions is about to be your new go-to. It’s laid-back, dimly lit for the low exposure girlies, and perfect for splitting a pie and lingering over drinks with your work bestie. If you go on a weekend, I recommend getting a reservation ahead of time. It’s a pretty popular, but small spot and I’ve always needed one on a weekend night.

2. Tenfold Coffee

Tenfold is said to serve some of the best coffee in Houston, hands down. Apart from the good beans and vibes, expect friendly baristas, and a bright space that just makes you feel awake even before the caffeine kicks in. I’m not really a coffee drinker, so I’m sorry that I can’t give you a well-informed review. However, the shop is very pretty… so if a cute photo of your coffee is what you want then it’s what you’ll get!

3. Kindred Stories

Now located at the historic Eldorado Ballroom, Kindred Stories is one of my favorite little gems in 3rd Ward and where I prefer to buy books (rather than from a certain giant business that I won’t name). This Black-owned bookstore hosts author talks, community events, and feels so inviting you’ll want to spend hours in there. Swing by after a day of coworking to decompress and find your next read.

4. 13 Celsius

Something that’s actually walking distance in Houston? Sold. 13 Celsius is literally a 1 minute walk from Sesh. They have fabulous wine and snacks. They even perfectly timed their weekday opening time (4pm) just for you to stroll over after a day full of emails, calls, tasks, and working hard.

5. Ironworks Marketplace

A food hall vibe that’s full of local vendors to support. You’ll find a little bit of everything– craft coffee, comfort food, trinkets, and usually someone selling handmade jewelry or art. I’ve brought my out-of-town friends here to show off the charm of East Downtown. According to them, there’s an acai bowl there that’s to die for!

Next time you come in to work at Sesh, treat yourself to one of these neighborhood spots– you’ve earned it. Got a favorite Midtown cafe, bar, or restaurant we should add to the list? Tell us next time you’re here!
