What time do you usually wake up? Is that a time that feels natural or painfully inconvenient for you?
I usually wake up around 8:00 am. It didn’t used to feel natural, but once my body adjusted to it, it’s got easier! I work from home, and I don’t have to find an outfit to wear for work so I able to sleep a little later than most.
Walk us through your morning! We want the full timeline; step by step.
My alarm goes off, and I sit in my bed for a good 10 minutes journaling and praying. Then, I get up and drink water and open the windows. It helps me get started for the day, and hydrating in the morning wakes you up tremendously! It’s gives you that extra boost of energy.
Do you make time for breakfast? Whatcha eating?
I always try to make time for breakfast. I like eating fruit bowls, oatmeal or eggs in the morning. Starting off my day with an energy filled breakfast helps me last longer throughout the day.
Share three things you must throw in your bag before leaving and why.
I work from home, but I’ll always need my water bottle and my airpods. I like to get in my zone, and what better way to help with that than music?
What’s a habit you want to remove from your morning routine?
Sometimes I can sit in my bed for too long. It doesn’t help much when you’re trying to get up. It makes me feel more tired, so I’m working on getting up quicker.
What essential products/items are part of your morning routine?
Skincare is my favorite part of my routine. I take it VERY seriously. In the mornings I like to keep it simple, so I’ll wash my face with Cerave’s Hydrating Cream-To-Foam Cleanser. It hydrates my skin, and who doesn’t like hydrated skin in the morning? I use the Inkey List’s PHA Toner for a gentle exfoliation, and then I’ll moisturize with CeraVe’s Moisturizing Cream. I follow this up with Neutrogena’s SPF 50 Hydro Boost Moisturizer.
What’s a hack that has improved your routine?
I always make sure to check my phone 20 minutes after waking up. This has helped me reduce my anxiety and stay present. Checking your phone immediately when you wake up really affects the tone of your day, and I try to be intentional with my phone usage in the morning.
I started drinking tea in the morning. Chamomile tea is one I’ve been getting into lately. With all the stress work brings, drinking a warm cup of tea keeps me sane. Being mindful of how you’re feeling in the morning matters so much.
Oop, that thing that puts a damper on your mornings every once in a while just happened again. What is it?
Whenever I forget to set my alarm, it throws my whole entire day off. I try not to be too hard on myself because it’s a casual mistake, but it’s annoying whenever I do forget! I’m working on it.
