Birthday Bash Box is an Educational Birthday Nonprofit serving children in under-resourced families.
Their mission is to mitigate the impact of poverty on education, social exclusion, and Social Emotional Learning by providing elementary-aged children with exciting educational experiences through our Birthday Celebrations in a Box.
What is Your Why?
Birthday Bash Box came about after talking to my mom about my own birthday parties as a child and how large they were due to the number of people in attendance. My mom shared that there was always a little girl there who was sad. For years my mom wondered why the girl was always sad at the parties and when I was in college, my mom learned that the girl and I had the same birthday. But the girl had never been celebrated.
I decided in that moment to create a nonprofit to celebrate children’s birthdays. However, I didn’t want to only celebrate the children for one day. I wanted to give them exciting educational resource around literacy and social emotional learning to give them told that they could use for a lifetime.
What is an Important Lesson You’ve Learned Along the Way?
The number one lesson is to always plan ahead and start early, so we can take advantage of last-minute opportunities that come our way.
How Do You Sesh?
We are so grateful to have a workspace at Sesh. It has allowed us to serve more families and to grow the organization through being able to have a larger space for the volunteers to work in, as well as engaging our families in more exciting ways through our Book Bash Events.
Birthday Bash Box uses one of our Private Offices as home base to operate, cowork, and collaborate.
